Manual Machinist
DETAILS
1st Shift Monday – Friday | Pay Range: $26 – $36
Location: Sun Prairie, WI
About the Manual Machinist role
* Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools with limited supervision.
* Perform complex machine setups and critical operations, subject to review.
* Program machines to perform machining work.
* Position and secure the work piece in the machine.
* Position tools to the workpiece.
* Operate various hand tools, power hand tools, and manual machine tools to make finish adjustments to products.
* Use a variety of precision measuring devices to set up and adjust work and verify conformance of work to specifications.
* Examine and feel the surface of the piece for defects.
* Sharpen cutting tools as needed.
* Troubleshoot operating, material, and tooling problems.
* Perform general preventive maintenance work on tools and equipment.
* Guide assisting personnel on correct procedures.
* Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed.
* Provide basic assembly of mechanical & electrical components as required
* Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
* Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
* Train other machinists on various machines.
* Assist in the decision-making process of future machine and tooling purchases.
* Maintenance and repair of machines.
* Order shop supplies and material stock
* Assist with quoting jobs
* Ability to perform basic welding noncertified
Job Requirements
* Requires education generally equivalent to an Associate’s Degree.
* Requires one to three years of skilled trades training in machine tool operations plus one to two years of related experience.
* Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.
* Must perform metric conversions.
* Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
* Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routing.
* Preferred areas include:
* AWS welding certifications
* Experience working in a production manufacturing environment
